Q. How Do I become a Lion
A. You have to be invited to be a Lion so the first step is to meet a current Lion. If you express interest in doing service in your community the Lion will happily invite you and be your sponsor into the club. Attend a meeting and get to meet the other Lions members. By completing an application form and with acceptance from the club executive you will be granted membership.
Q. What Does it mean to be a lion
A. Each Lion is valued member of the world's largest service organization. As of January 2020, Lions International had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members (including the youth wing Leo) in more than 200 countries and geographic areas around the world. Lions have accepted Helen Keller's challenge to be the Knights of the Blind and this is why we will endeavor to do all we can for vision-related projects. Every person has a great deal to offer for the benefit of our world and as a Lion you can offer your service with many other Lions by your side.
Q. What is the commitment?
A. There is an expectation that you will be a contributing member to the club. Attending meetings, sharing your ideas, participating in work projects. There are annual dues of around $100 which are due July 1st annually.
Q. When and Where are the meetings?
A. There are 2 meetings a month on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Meetings are held in our Lions Den at 102 - 112 Kananaskis Way in Canmore.
Q. Who can be a lion?
A. Any adult who wants to be of service to their community and their larger world; who wants to do more with a group than they can do by themselves and who values growth within themselves and the people around them.
